PRESIDENT

“I’m from Dallas, Texas, and I attended the real HU (Howard University) for undergrad. I graduated from GW with a Master of Public Health. I’m currently pursuing a specialty in neurosurgery. In my two years of being on StuCo,  I have loved identifying areas of need and finding creative solutions to problems; I appreciate that I can perform beyond the duties of my intended role to serve the student body and interact with people from different classes and campuses. Fun fact: I'm an avid gamer and collect retro gaming consoles!”

“Hi everyone! My name is Jalyn White, and I am from Virginia Beach, Virginia. I am a member of the Class of 2028 and am excited to be serving my second year on Student Council after previously serving as Director of Communications. Outside of school, I enjoy playing basketball, watching sports, listening to music, and doing puzzles. To me, Student Council is about advocating for the student body, fostering the HUCM community, and helping create the best possible experience for each and every student! I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving HUCM.”

“Hi! I’m Destyni Hubbard, a third year medical student at HUCM from Chesterfield, Virginia. This will be my second year serving as the Administrative Assistant for STUCO. “Hi everyone! I’m Jade, originally from Phoenix, Arizona, and a member of the Class of 2028. I’ve been involved with Student Council for the past year, and it’s been such a meaningful way to advocate for our class and help strengthen our community.

Outside of school, I enjoy traveling, biking, and reading. I’m also passionate about mentorship, wellness, and creating spaces where students feel supported and heard.

“Hi all! My name is Morinne Osborne, I am a third year medical student from Portland, Oregon. This is my first year working on the HUCM Student Council, but I was one of the VP's of Fundraising during my second year. To be able to raise money for the school as a whole, rather than just for my class, is an honor. I believe in supporting each student so that they can become the amazing future physicians we all deserve! When not studying for exams, I enjoy doing arts and crafts with my friends and volunteering for local DMV organizations. “

“Hi everyone! I’m Chioma Ezuma, an M3 from Laurel, MD, and this is my first year serving as one of your StuCo GSA Representatives. I’m deeply passionate about women’s health, mentorship, and community service. In my free time, I love going to concerts, dancing, learning new skills, and spending time with my dog, Leo. Outside of medicine, I love dancing, watching anime, random long walks, going on spontaneous adventures, and recently I've been getting into aerial silks. “Hey everyone! I was born and raised in Accra, Ghana, and now calling D.C. home as an M3 here.

This is my first year on Student Council, and I'm stepping in as Director of Facilities, committed to making sure our shared spaces are clean, organized, and conducive to learning.

Outside of medicine, you'll probably catch me at a gallery, art exhibition, sporting event, or deep in a good movie, show, or music rabbit hole. Basically, if there’s something to see, experience, or appreciate, I’m probably there.”

“Hey! I am a Baltimore native and a proud Morgan State Bear turned Bison! I have a passion for dance; I participated in the marching band danceline and the modern dance ensemble in college, and danced in ensemble and theater after graduating. Off stage and outside the classroom I seek adventure through roller coasters, zip lining, ropes courses, and I even climbed the Himalayan mountains! This year will be my second on Student Council and I look forward to serving and working with everyone this year!”

“Hi everyone! My name is McKenzi Thompson, and I'm from Boston, Massachusetts. I'm a member of the Class of 2028 and have been involved with Student Council since my second year of medical school.

Outside of school, I enjoy traveling, visiting museums, trying new restaurants, and spending time with friends and family. I'm also passionate about research, mentorship, and improving health equity.

To me, Student Council is about creating meaningful opportunities for students to succeed. One area I'm especially passionate about is expanding access to research by connecting students with mentors, helping them find projects, and providing resources that make getting involved in research more accessible.”

“My name is Ayomi Fadaka, I'm a 2nd year medical student from Lagos, Nigeria and I have the honor of serving as your HUSA Senator this year. This is my first year on student council and I am excited to advocate for our college and causes. Student council gives me an opportunity to help bring solutions to our daily concerns and I am happy to serve on this team. My primary specialty interests are currently psychiatry and dermatology. Beyond academics, I enjoy singing, spending time with loved ones and trying new experiences. Please feel free to speak to me about any suggestions or concerns that I may be able to help with.”

This is my third year on StuCo, and being a part of this team has been one of the most rewarding parts of medical school. To me, it means getting to work with some of the most amazing people and leaders every day while constantly learning from them.

As Webmaster, I love bridging the gap between the student voice and bringing it to light. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to continue doing that while highlighting all of the incredible work happening here at HUCM. Throughout college, I was involved in student leadership, and I’m excited to continue serving my classmates through Student Council. To me, Student Council is about advocacy, collaboration, and building a strong sense of community within our class. “Hey y’all! I’m Natalie and I’m from Columbus, GA by way of New Orleans, LA. I’m an M2 and this is my first year serving on student council! On my free time, I love to write creatively, run, dance, go to concerts, and analyze films. Being on Student Council is so important to me because it means that I can contribute to change within the student body at a higher level and for the entire school. I love all things musical performance, enjoy TV way too much and really enjoy swimming and playing badminton. “Hi everyone! My name is Grace Staes, and I am a rising fourth-year medical student serving as President of the Class of 2027. I have been involved with Student Council since my third year and have enjoyed advocating for my classmates and helping improve the student experience at Howard University College of Medicine. I am pursuing a career in ophthalmology and am excited to begin my fourth year and the residency application process.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with friends, writing poetry, staying active through power lifting and watching women’s basketball. I love serving on Student Council because it gives me the opportunity to collaborate with my peers, advocate for meaningful change, and help make HUCM an even better place for both current and future students.”
